The year was 2001. Everything changed for me.
I’ve had lupus & fibromyalgia (and a host of other lovely things that go along with it) since 2001. I no longer let it run my life and I do that by sharing with others who also have it. It helps!
That chronic pain rehab I was shipped off to was Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT. Their Chronic Pain & Recovery Program helped me to save my own life. Even though I got their due to crisis, I left there….30 days later…a changed woman and sooooo GRATEFUL. I learned tools to help me LIVE and not just EXIST with chronic pain. Here’s how I do it:
I started this awesome Facebook group called “Attitude of Gratitude With Chronic Pain” in 2014 after being desperate to find a group that wasn’t so damned depressing! All I was seeing was bitching and moaning and people trying to prove that they were sicker or more in pain than others! Say wha????
Chronic pain & illness can be hard enough….I needed a positive place that would motivate and inspire me to put one foot in front of the other every day. As the group grew and grew, I needed another admin and my awesome roomie from rehab, Jackie, came on board! How funny, right? Meant to be…
Here is a video interview we did talking about the group and the importance of cultivating gratitude while living with chronic pain: (click pic for video)
